Mary Dell Harris
Thomson, GA - Ms. Mary Dell Harris entered into heavenly rest on September 10, 2019.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are: a loving and devoted son, Michael Fountain (Angie) of Warrenton, GA; two grandchildren, Marco Fountain and Mariah Fountain, both of Thomson, GA; a great-granddaughter, Fetemia Cummings of Augusta, GA; one sister, Helen Arevell Harris of Warrenton, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
Services were held September 14, 2019 at Stamp Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Juanterrence Lowe, pastor, officiating.
Thomson Funeral System, Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
John David Phillips
Dearing, GA – Mr. John David Phillips, 91, entered into rest September 9, 2019. Mr. Phillips was born in Dearing, Ga, to the late John F. Phillips and the late Essie May Tudor Phillips. John grew up in Dearing, Ga and later moved to Port Arthur, Texas, where he worked as a seaman on oil ships. John retired from Exxon Mobil and later returned to Dearing, Ga in 2017. Mr. Phillips was a member of Proctor Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas, where he volunteered in mission work building churches. Mr. Phillips was loved by all who knew him and they will cherish the memories they share. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Houston.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sarah Francis Phillips, Appling, GA; son, Johnny Ray Phillips, Texas; daughter, Regina Cellars, Texas; two brothers, Gene Phillips, Columbus, Ga and Jack Phillips, Wrens, Ga; two sisters, Dovie Phillips Reed, Lincolnton, and Doris P. Hardwel, Norfolk, Va; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 21st in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a son and daughter- in- law Rev. Eric “Ken” Murray and Kathy Cannida Murray of Tennille, GA,: two sisters Alma Ford, Wrens, GA and Minnie Geter, Augusta, GA; six brothers Harvey (Flora) McNair, Thomson, GA, Johnnie F. (Dean) Shields and Eugene (Geraldine) Shields, Atlanta, GA, Bishop Henry Calvin (Bishop Candace) Shields, San Bernardino, CA, Bunyan Alvin (Alice) Shields, Wrens, GA, Wallace (Deborah) Shields, Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Nichola “Nikki” (Wesley) Smith, Macon, GA, Shenika (Rodney) Woodard, Sandersville, GA, Rameeka Askew, Tierra Murray and Kerryn Murray, Tennille, GA; seven great-grandchildren: Destinee Ellison, Ke’Von, Jamaryon and A’Riyah Woodard, Sandersville, GA, Izaiah Wallace, Brandon A. Askew, and Kyndall Marie Johnson, Tennille, GA; five Godchildren: Morris A. Hannah, Sheena Jackson, Jerel Jackson, Toya Gibbons and Eddie Bernard “B.G.” Gibbons: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A service was held September 17, 2019 at Wrens Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Chekibe Holman, Pastor, Presider / Presiding Elder (Retired) Ella Samuels, Eulogist.
