She is survived by her loving husband, Welcher "Straw" Jackson of Warrenton, GA; her children, Arlean (Parks) Mills & Linda Jackson both of Warrenton, GA and Loretta (Edward) Tucker of Mitchell, GA; sister, Louwill Kitchens of Warrenton, GA nine grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carl Randy Morris

Warrenton - Mr. Carl “Randy” Morris, age 66, passed away September 29, 2020.

Survivors are his wife, Joy Morris; daughter, Melinda Lee Morris Sanders (Gregg) of Savannah, GA; son, Michael John Morris (Amanda) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Billy Chalker (dec), Tommy Papadeas, Wes Hammock; a sister, Julie West; grandsons, Lucas and Jacob Sanders; and a host of other family and friends.

Even in death, Randy thought of others. Due to Covid 19, Randy asked that the Celebration of Life be delayed to protect all those who attend.

Miriam Peebles

Gibson - Miss Miriam Peebles, age 84, died September 29, 2020.

Funeral services were held October 2, 2020 in the Shepard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Mr. Jerry Taylor and Mr. John H. Peebles III officiating.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her extended family at the Gibson Health and Rehab.

Rebecca Burton Reese

Thomson- Mrs. Rebecca Burton Reese, 79, died October 2, 2020.

Graveside services were held October 4, 2020, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Butch Baston and Rev. Clifton Brown officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Teddy Reese, Thomson, her two daughters, Tracy (Pat) Ansley, Warrenton, and Carla (Tommy) Cole, Thomson; a brother, Mr. James (Louise) Burton, Canton; her two grandchildren, Blake (Miriam) Ansley and Mrs. Blythe (Matt) Mason; and her 5 great-grandchildren.

Thomson – Mr. Willie Clarence Shirley, 67, passed away October 3, 2020.

Wilma Womack Wells

Thomson – Ms. Wilma Womack Wells, 92, of Arnall Street, Thomson, GA entered into rest October 3, 2020 at her residence.

Ms. Wells was born in Millen, GA to the late Claude Womack and the late Susie Lanier Womack. She became a registered nurse after attending the University Hospital Barrett School of Nursing. Ms. Wells, known for her strength and independence, worked at University Hospital for several years, serving as the Director of Nursing for the McDuffie County Hospital. She was a pioneer in the health care industry, serving as the first female Administrator of the McDuffie County Hospital from 1954-1956. Ms. Wells was a surgical nurse and later taught surgical nursing at Talmadge Memorial Hospital where she authored a text book for nursing. Ms. Wells also worked as Manager and Regional Manager for Cato’s in Thomson for many years. She returned to her true passion of nursing serving as Director of Nursing for McDuffie Regional Medical Center and eventually retired from Kentwood Nursing Home. “Mama and Granny”, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, fishing, spending time and traveling with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ms. Wells was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Raymond Michael Wells.

Survivors include her daughter, Pat Wells Parris (Kenneth) of Thomson; son, Richard “Ricky “Wells (Cinnamon) of Grayson, GA; sister, Clem Hutchinson of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren, Michael Parris, Brooke Parris (Andrew Parker), Alysia Partain (Matt), Savannah Wells, Alannah Wells and great grandchildren, Steven Parris (Haley) and Courtney Parris.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. David Lambert officiating.
