A graveside service was held September 25, 2020 at Westview Cemetery, with Dr. Phil Pilgrim officiating.

Survivors include her three sons, Al (Kristie) Clark, Allen (Jackie) Clark, and Wayne (Lisa) Clark, all of Thomson; her two grandsons, Philip (Jen) Clark and Heath (Morgan) Clark, both of Thomson; and her two great-grandchildren, Luke Clark and Bella Clark, both of Thomson.

Dearing - Wendy K. Boone, 55, passed September 23, 2020.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Griffin of Anchorage, AK; two daughters, Erica Axon (Roy) of Dearing, Ga and April Boone of Augusta.

Millard Pete Gilmer

Dearing - Mr. Millard Pete Gilmer, age 89, passed away September 27, at Lake Crossing Health Center in Appling, Ga.

Millard was born in Warrenton, Ga, on June 16, 1931 to Billy Bruce Gilmer and Mary Smith Gilmer. He worked as a construction worker for Knox Rivers for many years. Mr. Gilmer was a simple man, always smiling and loved everyone. He never spoke a harsh word to anyone and loved sitting on the porch talking about the “Old Times”. Millard was very faithful to Little Briar Creek Baptish Church and loved his family unconditionally.

Mr. Millard was predeceased by his parents, Billy Gilmer and Mary Gilmer; and four brothers, J.D. Gilmer, Bobby Gilmer, Marvin Gilmer, Manor Gilmer.

Survivors are his three daughters, Etta Cook, Diane Chalker(Joey), Bobbie Jean Shelnutt; son, Ken Gilmer; brothers, Dave Gilmer, Darwen Gilmer; a sister, Faye Harrison; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, Thomson, GA with Rev. Randy Dunaway officiating. Interment was followed at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

A visitation was held at Beggs Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 5-7 p.m.

The family would like to express their appreciation of the care given by the nurses at Lake Crossing Health Center, Regency Hospice and all others who help take care of Mr. Millard.

Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing and masks are requested. Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate all phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.

Doris Elizabeth Inglett

Thomson – Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Inglett, 88, of Thomson, GA entered into rest September 25, 2020 at Doctor’s Hospital.

Mrs. Inglett grew up in Lincoln County, GA and was the daughter of the late Maynard B. Martin and the late Thelma Goldman Martin. She moved to McDuffie County in 1966, worked at Thomson Company for many years and retired as a cashier from Kmart. She enjoyed baking, working word puzzles, reading the Bible, crocheting, quilting, and fishing. Mrs. Inglett was a faithful member of Fort Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Roger Martin, Ray Inglett, Wayne Inglett and daughter, Donna Radford.

Survivors include her son, Jim Martin (Julianne); daughter in laws, Beth Martin McNair and Stephanie Inglett; 24 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Lincolnton City Cemetery with Rev. Danny McClure officiating.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Fort Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Renew and Pastor Tony Rhodes officiating.

Thomson- Mr. Freddie Lonergan, 81, widower of Mrs. Patricia Lonergan, died Thursday, September 24, 2020.

There are no services planned at this time.

Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Hamilton, Yukon, Ok.; a brother, Henry Lonergan; and his granddaughter, Brittany Hamilton.

Camak – Mrs. Jewel Allene McCord, 89, entered into rest September 23, 2020.

Survivors include her son, Andy McCord (Debra); daughter, Brenda M. Cooper; grandchildren, Jamie C. Sikes (Al), Jaime Lee McCord, Erica McCord and great grandchildren, Raya Cooper, Jacob Cooper, Jason McCord, Madyson McCord, Cooper Sikes, Bella Sikes, and great great grandson, John Christopher McCord.

Graveside services were held September 25, 2020 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor Marty Pinion officiating.

Mitchell –  Joanne Shelton Palmer, 69, entered into her rest September 26, 2020.  

A private memorial service to celebrate her life was held September 30, 2020 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Weatherford officiating.

Survivors include her three daughters, Brandi Palmer, Ashley Arrington (Jason) and Raven Wolflynx (Pablo); mother, Sara Shelton; sister, Dianne Davis; three granddaughters, Jasmin Treadway, Carleigh Palmer and Adyson Palmer; other extended family and many friends.

Dearing- Mrs. Jewell B. Poss, 88, died September 25, 2020.

Graveside services were held September 28, 2020, in the Carter’s Grove Cemetery in Wilkes County, with Rev. Logan Huff and Mr. Jack McCorkle officiating.

Survivors include her three sons, Billy Poss, Thomson, Stevie Poss and Tommy Poss, both of Dearing; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
