Preston Kyle Blackwelder                            

Dearing, GA  -  Preston Kyle Blackwelder, 20, entered into his eternal rest November 19, 2019.

Survivors include his parents; Patricia Pennington Blackwelder and Patrick William Blackwelder, his siblings; Brittany Suchnick and Corbin Blackwelder, maternal grandmother, Agnes Chalker,  paternal grandparents; Betty and Judson Taylor; three nieces; one nephew; and many friends.

Funeral Services were held November 24, 2019 at James Funeral Home, Wrens, GA.

Sandra Faye Brackett

Dearing, GA – Mrs. Sandra Faye Payne Brackett, 70, entered into rest November 19, 2019.

Mrs. Brackett, the daughter of the late Floyd Payne and the late Virginia Smith Payne, was born in Kingsport, TN, but grew up in the Augusta-Harlem area.  She worked at Greene’s Fine Food and Tracey-Luckey before retiring to be a full-time homemaker and great cook.  Mrs. Brackett enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and fishing.  She was an animal lover who was involved with animal rescue and she loved her family.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Kenneth Brackett; daughters, Penny Culpepper (Chris) of Harlem, GA, Angie Padgett (B.B.) of Dearing, GA, Tina Hackley (Steve) of N Augusta, and Jenny Schlewitz (John) of Evans, GA; brothers, Floyd Payne, Jr. (Barbara) and Danny Payne (Nancy) both of Harlem, GA; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene Johnson officiating.  

The family received friends from 9 until 10 a.m., Monday at Beggs Funeral Home prior to the service.

Warrenton, GA - Mrs. Pauline Hawkins Brown entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2019.

Services will be November 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Warrenton, GA.

Iris Pearl Hobbs Wootton King

Iris Pearl Hobbs Wootton King, 80, beloved wife of the late Bobby King of Morrow, GA, entered into rest Wednesday morning, November 20, 2019 at the Piedmont Physicians McDonough in Henry County, GA.  Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019 at Zoar United Methodist Church with Rev. Faye Burgamy officiating.  Interment followed at Zoar Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Wright Perdue, Stacey Greene, Jody Hobbs, Mike Hobbs, Mark Hobbs, Joey Smith, Jammie Smith, Luke Jackson, Josh Johns, and Barry Russell. The family received friends at Beggs Funeral Home in Thomson, GA on November 22, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Iris was born in Glascock County on June 30, 1939.  She was the daughter of the late Pearl Reese Davis Hobbs and the late Joseph Franklin Hobbs.  She was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Lee Hobbs, Nora Russell, Lester Hobbs, Bobbie Whitaker, Doris Sleister, Janette Perdue, Ann Smith, and Davis Hobbs.  Iris is survived by her four siblings, Barton Hobbs, Weslyn McGee, June Widener (Gussie), and Betty Jo Hobbs all of McDuffie County, GA; her companion and friend, Billy Thomas; sister-in-law, Maitland Hobbs of Warren County, GA; and many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Iris attended grade school at Purvis Schoolhouse in the panhandle area of Warren County, GA and graduated from Warrenton High School in 1957 in Warrenton, GA.  Shortly thereafter, she enrolled in Greenleaf Business School, Atlanta, GA.  After graduation she worked for Westinghouse Company.  Iris then married Lowell Wootton of Atlanta, GA, after which they built a home in Forest Park, GA.  Subsequently, she became an employee at Forest Park Children’s Center, retiring after 25 years.  After marrying Bobby King of Morrow, GA, Iris and Bobby pursued their common interest of vegetable gardening.  Over the years, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking.  In each endeavor she was not one to shy away from a little sweat and a lot of hard work.  She contributed on many occasions to the welfare, well-being, and enjoyment of siblings and family she had left behind in Warren County.

Warrenton, GA – Robert Louis Shivers, Sr., 78, passed November 23, 2019.
