Thomson, GA - Mrs. Joyce Darlene Green Harley, 73, entered into rest Saturday, May 4, 2019, at her residence.  

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel.

ckson, Michigan, but had lived in Thomson for many years.  She was retired as a waitress.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Green and six siblings.  She is survived by her husband,

Gary Harley, Thomson; two daughters, Theresa Henderson and Valeria Moore; four sons, Norman Green, Gary Harley II, Keith Harley, and Trevor Harley; fourteen grandchildren; and one sister, Christine Collins.

Michael Purdy

Michael Grant Purdy

Dearing, GA – Mr. Michael Grant Purdy, 61, entered into rest April 29, 2019.

Mr. Purdy, lovingly known as “Uncle Mike” to most of his acquaintances, was born in Lapeer, Michigan to the late Gordon Grant Purdy and the late Dorothy Ann Bolinsky Purdy.   He was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Michigan, a long-time resident of Columbia and McDuffie Counties, GA and was Catholic by faith.  Mr. Purdy was an excellent heavy equipment operator, like his father before him, and was employed by Sellers Construction.   A good-hearted, kind soul, he loved his family and spending time with his nieces and nephews.  

Survivors include his brother, Richard James Purdy (Denise) of Troy, MI; sisters, Pamela Joan Webber (Jim) of Saginaw, MI and Barbara Jean Pia (significant other – Jim Cloud) of Appling, GA; nephews, Kris Harbin of San Antonio, TX, Grant Harbin (Judy) of Grovetown, GA, Marc Pia of Evans, GA, and Richard Purdy of England; nieces, Ashleigh Purdy Beintema (Carl) of Michigan and Nicole Purdy of Virginia; and many, many great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Hankal officiating.

The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Greenwood, SC (formerly of Thomson, GA) - Mrs. Betsy Gibson Yarborough, 77, entered into rest on Thursday, May 02, 2019.

A Requiem Mass was held May 6th, 2019 in Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Stephen Lyness as celebrate, with Rev. Alan Smith and Rev. Buzz Yarborough assisting at the grave. Interment followed in Thomson Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Colonel William Glenn Yarborough, Jr., Thomson; a daughter, Elizabeth Yarborough, Thomson; two sons, Clinton Joseph Yarborough, Columbia, South Carolina, and Frank Rainsford Yarborough, Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Penny Cravens, Knoxville, Tennessee; a brother, Frank Gibson, Jr., Lookout Mountain, Georgia; and three Grandchildren.
