Mr. Robert “Bobby” Aldred, 84, of Dearing died Friday, June 24, 2022 at his home. He retired from Culpepper Lumber Company after over 40 years of dedicated service. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and socializing with customers. Bobby also served for more than 30 years as Coroner for McDuffie County. He was a member of Dearing Baptist Church and served as a deacon there. He enjoyed flying, gardening and sharing his vegetables with family, friends, neighbors and customers. He also delighted in baking Apple, Red Velvet and Pound Cakes to share at various functions or birthdays.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Morris and James “Heavy” Aldred; and two brothers, Jack and Jimmy Aldred. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Aldred; three sons, Jeff (Shelley) Aldred, Pat (Cyndy) Aldred and Chris (Elise) Aldred; six precious grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey (Brittney), Melanie, Dakota, Abigail (Dane) and Bella.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Mamie Thomas for the care and love she has shown Bobby and each of them.

Funeral Services were held 11 AM, Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Dearing Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Timmerman officiating. Pallbearers were Deacons from Church. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Kathy Hawkins, 71, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2022.
Kathy was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 9, 1950, grew up in Thomson, Georgia, graduated from Thomson High School, earned an Associate Degree in Business from Abraham Baldwin College and graduated from Crowell Institute of Real Estate. Her professional affiliations and accomplishments include being a member of the Georgia and National Association of Realtors and the Greater Augusta Board of Realtors, MLS Service, and she was a Certified Negotiations Expert (CNE), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR, Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) and a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES).
Kathy had a heart for serving her community. Throughout her career, she served as a board member on the Thomson Family Y Board of Directors, served in the McDuffie County seat on the board of commissioners for the East Georgia Housing Authority, served on the Thomson-McDuffie Land Bank Authority, and served two terms as a board member on the Thomson-McDuffie County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Kathy’s service was well-received and recognized by being named Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Chairman’s Award by the Chamber of Commerce, and being voted as a “Best Real Estate Agent” through the McDuffie Progress newspaper. She was still actively working as a licensed realtor and had worked with the Wilson Company since 1993. Kathy enjoyed fishing and traveling, loved spending time with her friends and especially loved spending time with her family and husband of 46 years, James Hawkins.
Mrs. Hawkins is preceded in death by her parents, James Stovall Kelley and Hazel Harrison Kelley and her daughters, Kathy Gilmer and Yvonne Sandifer. Her survivors include her beloved husband, James Hawkins; her son, Ben Hawkins (Stephanie); her brother, Ronny Kelley (Anna); her sisters, Gail Stewart, Janice Hobbs and Rebecca Brinkley; and her grandchildren, Daymon Linkous, Olivia Lewis, Chase Gilmer, Cole Wright, Kyle Wright, Kaitlyn Ramsey, Ashlyn Sandifer, Dexter Hawkins and Anthony Hawkins.
A graveside memorial service was held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Westview Cemetery, Thomson, Georgia, being officiated by Rev. Clifton Brown. Agnes “Inez” May Rabun, 92, of Thomson, Georgia entered into eternal rest June 22, 2022.
Inez Rabun was born in Thomson, Georgia and lived there most of her life. She was a loving and joyful Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.
Preceding her in death were father, Bob May; mother, Emma Heath May; husband, Neal W. Rabun; brothers, R.T., Roy, James, Emory, Leon, Emile, George, Willard and Allen; sisters, Virginia Nobles, Geraldine Hall, Mary May and Robbie Crosby Brooks. Survivors include her sister Miriam Usry; three daughters, Mary Lynn (Bob) Raley, Ann Rabun (Rex) Bell, Jill (Chris) Brooks, son Dennis Neal Rabun (Jaymie Boyum) all of Thomson, GA; seven grandchildren, Renee’ (Butch) Askew, Jennifer (Ben) Huff, Beth (Ryan) Neal, Jesse (Catherine) Brooks, Joshua Brooks, Zachary and Sadie Rabun; and six great grandchildren, Raley and Connor Askew, Abbi and Maggie Huff, Harrison and Harper Neal.
She adored attending the annual May-Heath family reunion, talking and reminiscing with many of her 39 nieces and nephews. Inez was a faithful Christian who taught many years of Sunday school and volunteered with the Prepare a Meal program. She was a member of Raysville Baptist Church.
As a homemaker, she loved sharing time with her family and taking care of them. Inez was an avid artist and crafter, known for her ceramic Christmas trees and sewing skills. She was a voracious reader and self-published writer of her memoir, “May Child”. She also worked as a teacher’s aide at Norris Elementary School, arranged flowers at Richards Flowers and Gifts, and worked at Chardan. In 2002, she was awarded the McDuffie County Senior Citizen of the Year for her tireless volunteer efforts, including teaching reading for the Adult Literacy Program. She loved playing card and board games, flowers, birds, the beach, mountains and camping.
Inez was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, GA. The funeral service followed in Beggs Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Adkins officiating. Interment followed in the May Family Cemetery, 343, May Rd., Thomson, GA 30824.
