Steven Rhodes

Greensboro, GA – Steven Rhodes, 30, of Bethany Church Rd. died January 1, 2019.

Steven was a native of Greene County, GA and was a welder at Rhodes Welding.

He enjoyed mud riding, working on old cars and loved fishing. He was a member of Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his father Herbert Calvin Rhodes, Jr.

Survivors include his children, Faith Marie Haley and Brayden Lane Rhodes; mother, Donna Parkerson Rhodes; paternal grandparents, Herbert and Dorothy Rhodes; maternal grandparents, Roy and Dianne Parkerson and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January  19, 2019 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Don Widener officiating.

Thomson, GA - Mr. Robert T.  Baity, 66, entered into rest on January 12, 2019.

There will be private services held at a later date.

Survivors include his daughter, Laura Ferguson (Patrick), Martinez; his Grandson, Corey Rosamond, Augusta; his great-granddaughter, Lily Rosamond, Augusta.

Anna Belle Ivey

Decatur, GA – Miss Anna Belle Ivey, 92, entered into rest January 11, 2019.

Anna Belle Ivey grew up in Camak, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Thomas Lazrus Ivey and the late Essie Belle Parham Ivey. Following graduation from Warrenton High School,  she attended the University of Georgia where she received a bachelor’s degree  in Nursing. She lived in Atlanta and Decatur most of her adult life and retired from Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory Midtown) after 41 years of service in 1993. Traveling all over the world was a passion of hers and she was also an avid Bridge player. She attended Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Decatur.

Survivors include great-nephews, Bert Purvis (Laura) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jay Holland (Denise) of Woodstock, Georgia; and great-nieces, Jennifer Cooke (Preston) of Dearing, Georgia and Jan Keith of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Ronny Brannen officiating.

Walker of Grovetown, Georgia, Samuel Johnson, Jr, Kerry M. Johnson, Wendale (Janice) Johnson all of Warrenton, Georgia, Amanda A. Johnson of Augusta, Georgia, Kalvin T. Johnson & Jermaine (Cassandra) Johnson both of Warrenton, Georgia, Juantavis Johnson & Ianel Johnson both of Warrenton, Georgia & Sandrell Johnson of Thomson, Georgia; one granddaughter that she raised as a daughter, LaMeshia Johnson of Warrenton, Georgia; twenty grandchildren & five great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy H. Thomson, GA - Wayne A. Kennedy, 78, entered into rest on January 11, 2019.

He is survived by his sons Wayne A. Kennedy, Jr. and Kyle W. Kennedy, daughters Patricia Johnson, Maureen McKinnon, Marilyn Yohe and Allyson Tilley, sisters Ruth Tipton and Rosetta Runion and his loving companion Darlene Cox.

Thomson, GA- Mae Bell Harris Ruff, age 87  passed away on January 5, 2019.

Those left to adore and cherish her wonderful memories: six children, Rebecca Hudson, Thomson, GA; Willie, Jr. (Gwendolyn) Ruff of Lithonia, GA, Becky Fountain of Thomson, GA, James (Deborah) Ruff of Dearing, GA, Bobby, Sr. (Marilyn) Ruff, Judy (Tommy) Denson, all of Thomson, GA; twenty grandchildren; fifty nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Allene Jackson, Dorothy Bonner both of Thomson, GA; two brothers, Tommy C. Gibson, GA- Wendy Jackson Simons, age 46, entered into rest January 14, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Fort Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Martin and Daniel Adkins officiating.

Wendy was a retired Communications officer with McDuffie County.  

Survivors include her mother; Martha King Jackson, son; Justin Luke Simons, brother; Michael Jackson, aunts, Patsy Edwards, Faye Murphy, Kaye Meeks, Melba Pearson, Peggy Smith, Anzenet Richarson, uncle, Wayne "Toot" Jackson, nephew, Trey Jackson, a special lifelong friend, Tonya Walton Thurman, and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. till the hour of service at the church.
