Betty Jane Cain

Ocean Isle Beach, NC- Betty Jane Johnson Cain, 88, formerly of Thomson, GA, went to be with her Lord Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends.

Funeral Services were held January 6, 2018 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC. Burial followed at Guilford Memorial Park. Betty Jane was born on September 2, 1930 in Liberty, NC, a daughter of the late R. William Johnson and Dezza Garrett Johnson. She worked for the Department of Defense, US Army, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved playing cards with her granddaughters, and also enjoyed playing bridge and golf with her friends. Betty Jane loved animals, the beach, fishing, and jumping the waves at Ocean Isle. “Oh Boy!”

Betty Jane leaves behind her two sons, Connie Dean Cain, Jr. of Georgetown, SC and William “Bill” Dewey Cain of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; two granddaughters, Katelyn Marie Cain of North Charleston, SC and Kristyn Deanna Cain of Georgetown, SC; nephew, Barry Johnson (Penny) of Liberty; and niece, Kay Davis (Mitchell) of Climax, NC. “Grandmama” loved playing with her great-granddaughter, Memory Jane. She is predeceased by her husband, Connie Dean Cain, Sr.; two brothers, Joseph Franklin Johnson and Charles William Johnson; two sisters, Faye Elizabeth Kirkman and Annie Novella “Pug” Snider; and her best furry friend, Little Bit.

Her family would like to say a very special thank you to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, her neighbor and best friend Nancy, Kay, Susan, Michelle and Jane.

Donald Cason

Thomson- Mr. Donald Cason, 80, widower of Mrs. Mary Ann Cason, died Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his residence.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Military Honors was observed.

Mr. Cason was a native of Columbia County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He had retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy, after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Cason, his parents, Harris and Bertha Cason, and his brother, Bobby Cason. He is survived by his step-daughter, Lisa (Brian) Bowles, Evans; two step-grandsons, Andrew Bowles and Connor Bowles; his sister in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Jimmy Howard, Dearing; and his faithful Pekingese, Chip; and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers of Wendy’s Senior Services and Heartland Hospice.

Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral. The family received friends following the services on Wednesday.

Miriam T. Lewis

Harlem, GA- Miriam T. Lewis, entered into rest January 06, 2019.

Funeral services were held on January 9, 2019, at Harlem Baptist Church with Reverend Carson Britt officiating.

She was a longtime resident of Harlem and owned an Azalea nursery called Lewis Nursery, with her husband James for 20 years.

Survivors include her two sons, Jimmie (Nancy) Lewis, Tim (Jeanne) Lewis, her grandchildren, Russ (Amber) Lewis, Randy (Stephanie) Lewis, Robert (Brandi) Lewis, Bob Hatcher, Hannah Lewis, Avery Lewis, and Josh (Ashley) Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Landen Lewis, Jaxon Lewis, Palmer Lewis, Tucker Lewis, and Sawyer Lewis and Charlotte Lewis; one brother, David Teague (Kay); and two sisters, Marietta Smith and Margaret Bolick (Neil).

Warrenton, GA- Ammie Lott entered into rest December 28, 2018.

She leaves to cherish her great memories; two daughters; Tina Lott, Warrenton, GA,  Elizabeth Lott, Augusta, GA;  four sons, Morris  Lott Jr., Eric (Carla) Lott, Atlanta GA, Curtis (Tortilla) Lott, Valdosta, GA, and Kim Lott, Thomson, GA., Ten  grandchildren, Tomeka Lott, Keandra Gilyard, Isaiah Lott, Myles Harris, Victoria Harris, Xzvaier Harris, Arkeyla Smith, Devin Lott, Erin Lott, Ja’Shayla Harris, (preceded her in death), three great grandchildren, Shi’Yona Tucker, Olivia Lott and Yahela Bacon; two brothers, Robert (Estella) Stanford,  Tobie Stanford   (preceded her in death);  one  sister-in-law,  Katie Lott and a husband Morris Lott; a special friend, Lena Ivey;  an extended son, Naxavian Ivey, she often called him her “Lil Boy” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives, and friends.

Blinda Diane Neal

Augusta -  Blinda Diane Neal, 62, entered into rest December 28, 2018.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, Christina Sutton, Katherine Morgan, Kelly Neal, Jessica Maddox, David Neal II, and Danny Neal Jr.; and best friend, Rhonda Greenawalt.

A memorial service was held January 05, 2019, in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.

Kellie Cecil “K.C.” Stevens

Thomson, GA. – Dr. Kellie Cecil “K.C.” Stevens, 85, entered into rest January 2, 2019.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Bobbie Duckworth Stevens; daughter, Wanda Hensley (Bill) of Martinez, GA; sons, David Stevens (Lindia) of Grovetown, GA and Michael Stevens of Warrenton, GA (Lula Floyd, companion, Martinez, GA); 4 grandchildren; Leslie Barron, Ashley Kresckay, Ericka Gilstrap, and Kellie Aguilar; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and honorary family member, Jim Brooks.

Funeral services were held on January 6, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Moore, Rev. Mike Adams and Rev. Lester Jenkins officiating.

Harlem, GA- Shirley Ann Whitaker, 74, entered into rest on January 2, 2019.

Survivors include her sister, Sharlotte Kennedy Corley, a daughter Bonnie and son in law Keith Vaughan; her nephews, Jimmy Fitzgerald (Diane), Tommy Whitaker (Melissa); five grand-daughters, Victoria Pate (Cory), Amber (Stephen), Raven (Josh), Taylor (Walker), Charlee and eight great-grandchildren.
