Gary Lee Cash

Gibson, GA - Mr. Gary Lee Cash, 71, died January 10, 2020.

Funeral services were held January 11, 2020 in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Duggan officiating.

 Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Duck, Ashley Downs, Hal Wentz, Jimmy Wilcher, Scott Davidson, and Clay Holliman

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Duck Cash of Mitchell, daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Ashley Downs of Jefferson, Ga, grandson, Cole Downs, granddaughter, Chloe Downs, aunt, Peggy Reardon, and uncles, Coy Ledford and Ronnie McIntyre.

Carolyn Ann Durden

Milledgeville, GA - Mrs. Carolyn Ann Abbott Durden, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Tabernacle of Praise with Rev. Thomas Durden officiating.  Interment will follow at 3 PM in Johnson Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 6 PM until 8 PM.

Mrs. Durden was a native of Warrenton and had made her home in Milledgeville.  She was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Ezra and Iris Edenfield Abbot and was preceded in death by a sister, Margel Barton.  She had worked at Central State Hospital for a number of years and also Oconee Resa. She was a member of the Writers Club and Tabernacle of Praise.  

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Durden of Milledgeville; children, Charlie Mimbs of Savannah, Tony Mimbs (Teresa) of Warrenton, Beth Fezio (John) of Norris, SC, and Troy Mimbs (Eleanor) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Jeffrey Mimbs, Monica Mimbs, Tiffany Anderson, T.J. Mimbs, Justin Davey, Hannah Mimbs, and Rebecca Lavender; great grandchildren, Iris Abbott Anderson, Hamilton "Ham" Anderson, Kalem Davey, and Arick Davey; brothers, Terry Abbott of Sandersville, and David Abbott of AL; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

John R. “J.R.” Jenkins

Thomson, GA – Mr. John R. “J.R.” Jenkins, 76, entered into rest January 2, 2020.

Mr. Jenkins, longtime resident of Thomson, Georgia, was a retired Master Sgt. in the United States Army with 32 years of service including Vietnam and Desert Storm. Mr. Jenkins maintained active membership in several veterans organizations including the VFW, DAV, AMVETS, American Legion, Voiture National, and was a past district POW/MIA chairman and member of VMVMC.  He also maintained memberships in the Elks lodge, Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodges A.J. Miller #204 and Franklin #11, Hubert Chapter 120, Warrenton Council #78, St. Omer Commandery #2, Scottish Rite Valley of Augusta, and other numerous organizations.  

Survivors include his loving wife, Christine Jenkins and dogs; children from a previous marriage; daughter, Josetta Michele Gray; son, Michael Anthony Jenkins; and brother, William B. Jenkins (JoAnn).

A memorial service will be held in the Georgia National Veterans Cemetery in Canton, Georgia at a later date with full military honors.

Thomson, GA – Mrs. Veona Rainey Law, 74, entered into rest January 7, 2020.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Law; daughters, Jerri Lynne Law of Thomson, GA and Sharon Marie Allison (Geoffrey) of Gainesville, GA; two sons, Kenny Law of Piedmont, Al and Todd Law (Amy) of St. Mary’s, GA; two brothers, L.D. Rainey of California and Rev. James Rainey of Centre, Alabama; one sister, Linda Pittman of Spring Garden, Alabama; grandchildren, Jordan Busse, Jacob Law, Christopher Law, Alexander Law, Payton Law, Annalise Law, Stetson Allison and Cole Allison; great grandchildren, Caleb, SaraBryn, Paisley, Bentley and Mason.

A Memorial service was held January 10th at the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church in Cleveland, Georgia with Rev. Jimmy Peck and Rev. Ronald Wilson officiating.

There was also a Memorial Service held January 12th at Sharon Hill Congregational Holiness Church in Piedmont, Alabama.

Appling, GA - James “Allen” May, 66, entered into his eternal rest January 10, 2020.

Funeral services to celebrate his life were held January 14, 2020 at InMotion Church in Thomson with Pastor Scott Franklin officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Cummins May; his children, Jess May (Bettina), Jennifer Brooks (Scotty) and Eddie Waldrop (Brandi); sister, Ellyn Womack (Cale); seven grandchildren, Rivers May, Bailey May, Jackson May, Hampton Brooks, Bentley Brooks, Crews Waldrop and Karsyn Waldrop; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
