Daniel Thomas Farr, Sr.

Thomson, GA- Mr. Daniel Thomas “Dan” Farr, Sr. 91, passed away February 20, 2019 at University Hospital.

Mr. Farr was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, GA and the son of the late Milton West Farr and the late Georgia Cason Farr. He was the retired owner and operator of Dan Farr Furniture, later worked at Haverty’s, Lowe’s and also as a courier for Region’s Bank and Moye Pharmacy. Mr. Farr was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, member of the choir, leader of the Youth Ministry, and taught the young couples Sunday School Class for many years. He enjoyed all sports, especially coaching Little League.  Dan loved his church and his heart was with St. Jude and the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 years, Betty Adams Farr; sons, Rev. Daniel Thomas Farr, Jr. (Teresa) of LaGrange, GA, John Milton Farr (Michelle) of Evans, GA; daughter, Rebekah Burnside (MSGT Daniel Burnside, Rtd.) of Thomson; brother, Robert Farr of Thomson, Charlie Farr of Gainesville; sisters, Madelyn Golomb of Alpharetta, Carolyn McKay of Nevada; grandchildren, Benjamin Farr (Nikki), Bradley Farr (Julie), Brian Farr (Kristin), Brandon Perdue, Blake Perdue, Taylor Wilsey (Matt), Kevin Burnside (Serena), Caitlin Burnside Sumner (Chris), and Emily Burnside; and 13 great grandchildren.

Celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Thomson with Rev. Daniel Thomas Farr, Jr. officiating.  Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.

James Delmar Dunn

Thomson, GA - Mr. James Delmar “Jimmy” Dunn, Jr., 85, entered into rest February 21, 2019.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Emily Callaway Dunn; sons, James Dunn, III (Jackie) of Monroe, GA and Jerry Dunn (Lindsay) of Thomson, GA; grandchildren, Nicole Langston (Cliff), Jenifer Dunn, Davis Dunn, and Callaway Dunn; and numerous cousins.

Memorial services were held February 24, 2019 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Berry Wren officiating.

Lewis Alfred “Louie” Harbeson, Jr.

Thomson - Mr. Lewis Alfred “Louie” Harbeson, Jr. passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Augusta, Georgia with his family by his side.

A Memorial service was held February 24, 2019 at the Curtis Funeral Home with the Rev. Larron Pilgrim officiating.  

He was born November 10, 1939 to Lewis A. Harbeson, Sr. and Vernell Kizer Harbeson in St. George, South Carolina.  Lewis’ family moved to Thomson in 1953.  He attended Thomson High School, graduating in 1957, playing football, basketball and baseball.  He later earned an Associate Degree in Architectural Engineering from Southern Technical Institute.  Lewis was an electrical contractor and master plumber.  Lewis loved his family along with work, eating, fishing, coffee and above all talking and giving his opinion on everything.  He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mrs. Jan S. Harbeson; brother, Robert “Ned” Harbeson (Claire), Thomson; three children, Mitchell Harbeson (Shannon), Fayetteville, Gregory Harbeson (Amy), Washington, and Jennifer Foster (Steve), Thomson; four grandchildren, Tyler Harbeson, Nickolas Harbeson, Alice Harbeson, and Madyson Foster; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews knowing him affectionately as Poppy.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Foster, Lee Hutto, Lawton Harbeson, Ben Harbeson and Matt Stevenson.

Dearing, GA. – Mr. Tommy Jesse Langley, 82, passed away February 19, 2019.

Survivors include his wife, Claudette Langley; daughter, Mona Hudson (Pete); son, Ricky Langley (Theresa) of Conyers; grandchildren, Josh Hudson, Jill Norris (Cory), Stefenie Purvis (Brent) and Jesse Langley ; step grandchildren, William Schroeder and Lauren Schroeder and 5 great grandchildren.

Thelma Louise Perkins

Harlem, GA – Mrs. Thelma Louise Perkins, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior February 25, 2019.

Funeral services were held February 27, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Dr. Ronald Young and the Rev. David Young officiating.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Perkins (Yvonne), Freda Jo Young (Roy) and Juanita McCarthy; three sisters, Vonnie Murray (Roy), Martha Davis and Elizabeth Mumpower; and three grandchildren.
