Students from Thomson High School were recognized recently for their work in the Youth Works Summer experience.
McDuffie County School District Administrative Assistant Sheilah Johnson said the One Stop in Thomson offered funds and the program is part of the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA). The district applies for the competitive grants to support the program annually. “Those funds are designed to help lower income students be ready to go out into the workforce,” Johnson said. “So, the program would include training for soft skills, workplace readiness training.”
