On Monday, May 20 investigators arrested and charged DeMario Wilcher, 26, of Warrenton with murder in the shooting death of Quontavious Battle.
On Sunday, May 12, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Warren County Communications Center received a call regarding a subject being shot in the 300 block of Depot Street in Warrenton. Responding officers learned that Quontavious Battle, 23, of Warrenton had been shot. Battle was transported to University Hospital-McDuffie where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Warrenton Police, investigated the scene with Glascock County, McDuffie County, Warren County, Georgia State Patrol, and GBI. After May 12, GBI continued to help with the investigation.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center had Wilcher in custody on unrelated charges and held him in the jail until he arrested and transported to the McDuffie County on May 20.
The Georgia State Patrol had arrested Wilcher for speeding, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and fleeing or alluding an officer.
Now charged with murder, Wilson is currently in the McDuffie County Jail.
