A Warrenton Police officer was fired from his position Aug. 5 after an off duty crash on Cedar Rock Road resulted in his being charged with driving under the influence .
Warrenton Police Chief Ron Sellers terminated James Logan Hill, Aug. 5 following a car verses fence accident that occured at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.
Hill, 21, of Springfield St. in Thomson, had been employed with the City of Warrenton Police Department since March 22, 2019.
Following the accident on Cedar Rock Road, Hill was arrested Aug. 5 and was charged with driving under the influence and driving too fast for conditions. He was released from the McDuffie County Jail Aug. 5 after posting a $1,400 bond.
In a Aug. 5 statement, Sellers reported the termination.
“Due to an automobile accident that occurred early this morning, I, as the chief of police have had to terminate one of my officers.”
Sellers also says that one person was injured with non-life threatening injuries but still remains in the hospital.
The chief says investigation into the crash is still ongoing but the officer has been terminated from the Warrenton Police Department.
