A Warrenton man was killed Christmas night after he lost control of his vehicle on Happy Valley Road.

According to Sgt. Ed Starling, commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 25 in Grovetown, first responders were called to Happy Valley Road at Fred Reeves Road at 8:20 p.m., Dec. 25  for a single-car vehicle accident involving a white, Ford Mustang.  The trooper said the driver lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, struck a power pole and multiple trees and overturned into the trees.

The driver, identified as Joshua McNair, 29, was ejected from the vehicle at the shoulder of the roadway and died at the scene. McDuffie County Deputy Coroner Paul Johnson pronounced McNair deceased at 9:12 p.m. at the scene.

“The cause of death appears to be internal blunt force trauma but I am waiting on the complete autopsy,” Johnson said.

McNair’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab  to be autopsied the morning of Dec. 26.

According to Starling, GSP’s Specialized Collision and Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is investigating the crash and why McNair went off the road. SCRT investigates, when requested, fatal crashes and documents evidence in collisions to be used in court.
