A man and woman were the victims in a shooting in Thomson June 27.
The man and woman were shot at the Spee-Dee Foods on Gordon Street. Thomson Police Chief John Seay said the black man and black female were shot between about 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to University Hospital McDuffie with a gunshot to the back. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Augusta University Medical Center with a wound to the chest.
Immediately after the shooting at Spee-Dee Foods, the two gunshot victims traveled by vehicle to an address on Culpepper Circle from where they were transported to the hospitals. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime scene tech placed 30 evidence markers over bullets in the parking lot of the food market.
According to McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office Major Ronnie Williamson, the car at the Culpepper Circle address was riddled with at least 12 bullet holes. A male witness was transported from the Culpepper address to the Thomson Police Department to give a statement.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Thomson Police Department and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting.
The June 27 shooting was the fourth reported shooting in Thomson within the last five days.
