Daniel E. Johnson is a country music artist who has joined forces with ForcesUnited to put on a concert to benefit the veteran community in Thomson, Ga.
The concert is called “Join the Force”, and it is on April 30, at 8 p.m. at the Sunset Auction House.
Johnson is originally from Thomson, Ga. and graduated from Thomson High School in 2007. He currently lives in Nashville, TN. According to Johnson, he has been playing music since 2010.
Johnson said he’s starting to get back out there with places opening back up.
“We’re getting back out there and playing shows,” Johnson said. “I love playing back in Thomson, so we try to come down several times a year."
Johnson's single “Get A Man Wrong”, is a song about a veteran who is down on his luck and is seeking compassion from a stranger, according to Johnson.
“Been putting out a bunch of songs this year,” Johnson said. “This is the second single. We’re basically putting out an album's worth of singles.”
According to Johnson, he and his team reached out to ForcesUnited to put on a benefit concert to help bring awareness to veteran poverty and the lasting impact it has on the veteran community in his own hometown.
ForcesUnited is a nonprofit organization that looks to help local transitioning service members, and veterans from all eras. They help these veterans connect with resources and programs to help improve their lives and empower them to thrive in local communities.
ForcesUnited is based in Augusta, Ga. and helps veterans all throughout the CSRA.
“We’re just doing a benefit concert with them and it’s going to be a good night,” Johnson said.
According to Johnson, all of the proceeds from the concert will go towards ForcesUnited. Tickets cost $15 and the doors open up at 8 p.m. The VIP tickets cost $25 and include a meet and greet, an acoustic concert, and they will show a music video that was shot around Thomson.
