The McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the man wanted in connection with the body found on Kelly Road in McDuffie County Aug. 13.
The Sheriff’s Office had been seeking to arrest Sanriquez Antonio Williams, 22, of the 3500 block of Gant Jackson Road in Dearing, for the murder of Gabriel Jackson Jr., whose body was found on Kelly Road, outside of Dearing, at approximately 8 p.m. by a McDuffie County Deputy Sheriff on patrol on Aug. 13.
Jackson, 32, of North Augusta, South Carolina, had reportedly been missing since Aug. 10.
According to the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, Williams was arrested at approximately 11:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22. The sheriff’s office issued a murder warrant for Williams’ arrest and released a be on the lookout alert to law enforcement and the media.
The sheriff’s office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service had been jointly investigating the case and were led to obtain a search warrant for a home in the 450 block of White Road in Columbia County.
According to a sheriff’s office media release, the Columbia County SWAT Team made contact with Williams at the residence and he surrendered without incident.
“Williams is being held at the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office and will be charged with murder,” Williamson said, and added that the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Williams was also recovered.
Williamson also reported that a 15-year old who was also charged with murder in the death of Jackson was arrested and taken into custody earlier in the week. The juvenile is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
“The investigation is still very active and additional charges are forthcoming,” Williamson said.
