A Dearing man shot his father Tuesday night and was arrested Wednesday morning.
At approximately 6 p.m. on June 25, the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office and McDuffie County Fire and EMS responded to 3724 Randall Road in Dearing for a shooting incident.
According to Chief Deputy Major Ronnie Williamson, first responders arrived to find that Dennis Phillips, the 47-year-old resident of the home, had a gunshot wound to his right lower leg.
EMS transported Phillips to Doctors Hospital in Augusta with non-life-threatening injuries.
After an investigation, Williamson said that deputies discovered that Taylor Dennis Phillips, 22, and also a resident of the Randall Road home, had shot his father and fled the scene in a 2011 Chevrolet Impala.
Williamson said criminal warrants were issued for Phillips arrests.
At 8 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, deputies arrested Phillips , without incident, near the Randall Road residence. The vehicle and firearm deputies believe Phillips used to shot his father were recovered, Williamson said.
Taylor D. Phillips is in the McDuffie County Jail awaiting a bond hearing. He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, and armed robbery.
