Shots rang out Sunday afternoon outside an apartment complex, and residents took cover in inside their units.
When the 2 p.m. shooting was over on May 6, a 14-year old juvenile had been shot in the leg at the Thomson Villas.
“I was sitting and eating ice cream with my grandchild,” said Beth Reese, who lives in a unit. “I saw a white t-shirt go past my window, and I did not think anything of it. I then heard gunshots and hit the floor. I called 911.”
Thomson Police officers and an investigator arrived to take statements and gather evidence. The 14 year-old male was transported to Augusta University Medical Center. A couple of apartments were hit by bullets and two vehicles, a Honda and a GMC Yukon, were damaged by bullets.
Thomson Police Chief John Seay, said the 14 year-old and Shaun Boyd, 17, were arguing with Cortorius Latrelle Collins and Quadarious Collins at the complex. “At some point, gunfire erupted and the 14 year-old was taken to Augusta University Medical Center with a bullet wound in his leg,” the chief said. “The four individuals were shooting at one another.”
“The shooting is being investigated and the four individuals are persons of interest,” the police chief indicated.
