Anyone in need of a Thanksgiving dinner can pick one up free next Thursday at the Thomson Depot. Love, Peace & Happiness Outreach will provide free community Thanksgiving meals to anyone that stops by, while the food lasts. The event begins at 11 a.m. and runs through 2 p.m. if food is still available.
Because of COVID-19 precautions, this year’s meal giveaway will be done in a drive-up format. Kathy Boutry, of Love, Peace & Happiness Outreach, said if someone is not able to pickup up their meals then they can schedule to have a meal delivered by contacting her at 706-361-3115 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The City of Thomson has provided assistance to the community meal distribution by providing use of the Thomson Depot. People are asked to stay in their car when they arrive.
“We will bring it out to you,” Bouttry said.
The meals will features dressing, turkey, chicken, ham, string beans, an other items. The meals are cooked and ready to take home and eat. Bouttry said this type food distribution is done every year at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She said Love, Peace & Happiness Outreach provides the most meals during the Thanksgiving event.
