Deputies seized more than 18 pounds of marijuana and two firearms and arrested a Thomson man, who now faces multiple charges.

Lonnie H. Harris, 51, of the 1000 block of Honey Hole Road, has been charged with:

•Purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of controlled substances or marijuana.

•Trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana, or methamphetamine.

•Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

•Possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime.

Deputies searched a commerical storage unit in the 1000 block of Wrightsboro Road on Jan. 27 and found 18.7 pounds of field grade marijuana, according to Maj. Ronnie Williamson, of the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Williamson, the value of this grade of marijuana would be $400 to $800 per pound.

Deputies also siezed a little over $1,800 in cash, a .40-caliber Glock handgun and an AK-47, chambered in 7.62 x 39.

Harris was booked into the McDuffie County Jail and later was released on a $61,050 bond.
