Last Friday, July 24, the health department hosted free COVID-19 testing at the housing authority in Thomson.

According to Kathy Linebarger, FNP, BC and county nurse manager, 114 individuals were tested at the drive-up site.

Cars lined up along Pecan Avenue after entering the testing area from White Oak Road.

The testing staff kept the line steadily moving forward with two registered nurses approaching vehicles to collect samples. Some vehicles were only occupied by the driver, but in other cases multiple individuals within one vehicle were quickly tested.

Representatives from the Thomson-McDuffie Fire Department and EMS, along with the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, assisted the public health staff with the traffic flow.
