Local fighter to face off in cage June 26
Joshua "Hollywood" Hancock

Local fans of mixed martial arts will have the opportunity to watch one of Thomson’s own participate in the sport later this month.
Joshua "Hollywood" Hancock will face off in the cage against Tony Cantrell at the University of South Carolina Aiken’s Convocation Center on Sat., June 26.
Hancock, who has lived in Thomson since 1998, said this is the first time he will fight this close to home in more than four years. He is the son of George and Ramona Hancock of Thomson, and a 1992 graduate of Harlem High School.
"I’ve been fighting for 10 years, and Augusta and South Carolina doesn’t really have a lot of fights come here," he said. "Most of my fights have been on the West coast, so I’m excited to be fighting this close to home."

Bulldogs' season was memorable

Although the ending may have left a bitter taste in the mouths of Thomson baseball fans, there is no denying the 2010 season will be one to remember for years.
Thomson’s baseball program had its best year in school history, finishing with an overall record of 27-6 and advancing to the state semifinals before losing to the eventual state champion, Columbus.
In 2009, the Bulldogs won their first ever Region 3-AAA title, and they repeated the feat again this year by finishing with a record of 10-2 in region play. Thomson’s only region losses in 2010 came to the same team — Richmond Hill.
