Norwood woman killed in Lincolnton Rd. crash

A two-vehicle head on collision on Lincolnton Road has resulted in one confirmed fatality.
A head-on collision on Lincolnton Road in McDuffie County killed a Norwood woman on Jan. 12.
The call came into McDuffie County 911 at approximately 7:15 a.m. Jan. 12 for an accident with injuries and entrapment. When first responders arrived on scene, drivers of both vehicles were entrapped and had to be extricated.
According to a Georgia State Patrol report, a Nissan Altima driven by William Bonner, 20, of Lincolnton, was traveling south in the 4300 block of Lincolnton Road. He failed to maintain his lane and crossed partially into the northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Honda Civic driven by Mildred Moss, 60, of Norwood.
Moss, who was a teacher in McCormick County, South Carolina, was on her way to work. She was transported to University Hospital McDuffie where she was pronounced dead by the McDuffie County Coronerís Office.

According to Georgia State Patrol troopers on scene, a black Honda sedan was traveling northbound on Lincolnton Highway, and a dark grey Nissan Altima was traveling southbound. The Altima crossed the center line and the two vehicles struck each other head on. The Georgia State Patrol accident reconstruction team is also on scene.

People in both vehicles were entrapped and had to be extricated. Identities of the drivers are unknown at this time.

The identity of the person killed in the accident will be released after the family is notified.
