TMMS students remember fallen classmate
By Caitlin Boland

Students release balloons with notes attached in memory of their classmate.
Thomson-McDuffie Middle School students gathered on Jan. 5 to remember a classmate who passed away unexpectedly during the Christmas break.
Jesus Quiahua, who was a seventh grade student at TMMS, died on Dec. 29 from a bacterial infection in his brain.
“The balloon release will give our students an opportunity to say goodbye,” said Almeisha Jackson, a teacher at TMMS. “There are notes in most of the balloons written by the students. We hope they float to the heavens.”
