An Avera man was arrested in Glascock County for marijuana possession less than one ounce among other charges.

Matthew Miguel, 21, of Avera, was arrested on Jan. 2 by a Glascock County deputy after Glascock County Sheriff Jeremy Kelley was notified by DNR Cpl. Brian Adams that he had stopped a vehicle driven by a man, later identified as Miguel, on Hwy. 102 East. Adams said several concrete blocks had fallen from the trailer the vehicle was pulling.

Adams said the driver was acting suspicious, so Kelley and Deputy Josh McGahee met with Cpl. Adams. Kelley requested the assistance of Chief Deputy Charles Cason and narcotics K9, PC, to search the vehicle. The K9 alerted on the exterior of the car, and Kelley said a search of the vehicle revealed several "partially smoked marijuana cigarettes, glass pipe used in consumption of marijuana, and a small bag containing less than one once of marijuana and an open alcohol
container."

Miguel was arrested and transported to the McDuffie County Jail. He is charged with one count of unsecured load, one count of open container, one count of marijuana possession - less than one ounce, one count of possession of drug-related objects and one count of no drivers license on person. He has been released on bond.
