Devantae Gaithers
The McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested an Aiken man for the alleged rape of a local juvenile female following a nearly two-week investigation.
Devantae Lorenzo Gaithers, 21, of the 600 block of Carver Terrance in Aiken, South Carolina, turned himself into the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 1.
According to Mary Chandler, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Thomson, the agency joined the sheriff’s office in investigating the case Nov. 20 after the sheriff’s office received a complaint of rape of a juvenile female in McDuffie County.
Gaithers was booked into the McDuffie County Jail Dec. 1 and charged with statutory rape and sexual exploitation of a minor. He was released later on Dec. 1 after posting a $25,000 bond.
