Thomson man’s body found in Clarks Hill Lake

Wildwood Park was the site of a boat collision that killed two people, George Ashmore, 51, of Thomson, and Thomas Allgood, 65, of Augusta.
Following a boat collision on Clarks Hill Lake near Wildwood Park in Columbia County, a Thomson man was pronounced dead.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) game wardens were called to the park after two boats collided at approximately 3:30 p.m. Dec. 1.
According to a DNR press release, preliminary investigation and witness statements foud that two bass boats had collided, causing both drivers to be ejected from their craft.
Mark McKinnon, public affairs officer, Law Enforcement Division. said the missing men were identified as George Ashmore, 51, of Thomson, and Thomas Allgood, 65, of Augusta.
On Dec. 2, Ashmore’s body was recovered from the lake, and DNR game wardens continued their search for Allgood on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.
