Tutt honored with All-America Bowl jersey, chooses the Auburn Tigers
By Jim Wallace

Christian Tutt verbally committed to Auburn University on Nov. 14.
With the Thomson High School student body cheering Tuesday afternoon, Christian Tutt accepted an All-American team jersey and committed to a college.
Tutt, a senior defensive back and receiver for the Thomson Bulldogs received the jersey signifying his being chosen for the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Moments after accepting the jersey, Tutt announced his choice of Auburn over Ohio State and Nebraska.
Ranked as one of the top cornerbacks in the country, Tutt had more than 35 offers from colleges.
Tutt told those gathered at the pep rally that he was honored by being chosen, thanking the Lord, his family and remembering his brother, Christopher, who lost his life in an auto accident.
“My emotions were high today,” said Tutt.
“I was thinking about my brother a lot … It was a great day overall.”
He said that going to compete with 50 of the best athletes in the country on the same team was special and an honor.
“I’m ready to prepare myself and go down there and play good,” he said, adding that he was blessed to come from a small town and receive such recognition.
Tutt said he chose Auburn, because of their need for cornerbacks, and partly because he didn’t want to go so far from home. He also said that attending Saturday’s Auburn-Georgia game further sealed the deal.
After popping balloons that signified his choice of the Auburn Tigers, a plaque was presented by the U.S. Army to the school in honor of Tutt’s selection.
Thomson football coach Rob Ridings noted the award was the second, as in 2011, current University of Georgia nose guard John Atkins was honored previously.
