A Gibson man was sentenced to life in prison Nov. 2 after he pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy.
Toombs Judicial Circuit Judge Britt Hammond sentenced Dusty Allan Bland, 34, of the 600 block of W. Main St., to a lifetime in prison for sex acts with a minor male relative in July 2016.
Bland pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sodomy during the pre-trial hearing Nov. 2 in Glascock County Superior Court.
The Glascock County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in the 600 block of West Main St. on July 11, 2016, to respond to a report of a problem with a juvenile who threatened to run away. While there, allegations of sexual conduct between Bland and the then nine-year-old male relative were made. The boy reported that he was six when Bland began the sexual contact.
Glascock County Sheriff Jeremy Kelley, then the chief deputy, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Family and Children’s Services investigated the allegations, and Bland was arrested July 29, 2016. Additional information the juvenile provided to a school employee about the alleged sexual contact was obtained in September 2016.
He was charged with aggravated sodomy, child molestation and incest. A Glascock County Grand Jury indicted him on seven counts including three counts of aggravated sodomy, three counts of child molestation and one count of incest.
