Brewer makes WWE appearance close to home
By Jim Wallace

NXT Champion Drew McIntyre (right) executed a close pin on challenger Andrade Cien Almas as D.A. Brewer gives only a two count.
A Thomson native and WWE wrestling referee made it close to home recently as he officiated matches in South Carolina.
Antrone Brewer, who resides in Orlando, and is a referee with WWE-NXT, appeared in Aiken, South Carolina.
Quite a few people from the McDuffie County area caught the matches Oct. 21 at the University of South Carolina – Aiken Convocation Center.
“Being able to come back close to home is such a wonderful feeling,” Brewer said.
“And being able to do it under the WWE umbrella makes it even more amazing. I honestly never thought this day would come, much less being able to do it this close to home.”
While Brewer, who officiates under the name D.A. Brewer, said he was not sure how many fans from his wrestling days as Da Fireman were at the matches, social media was flooded with pictures of fans with Brewer.
“There was a great amount of hometown support that traveled the 50 miles just to see me make it to the finish line,” said Brewer, who sponsored six years of Fall Brawl wrestling extravaganzas in the Thomson area.
