Betty Ann Gay, 75, of Truman Street entered into rest Oct. 7, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Gay was born in Norwood, Georgia, to the late Pat Reese and the late Nora Wilson Reese. She worked at Thomson Company and she was a childcare provider for many years. Mrs. Gay was a faithful and devoted homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gay was predeceased by a son, Thomas Edward Gay Jr.; brothers, Haynes Reese and Hugh Reese; and sisters, Helen Parish and Harriett McGahee.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Edward Gay; son, Tim Gay (Lisa) of Panama City, FL; daughter, Noree Bland of Thomson, GA; sister, Jenita Durham of Martinez, GA; granddaughter, Mallory Bland and great granddaughter, Ariel Bland both of Augusta, GA.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow in New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Norwood, Georgia.
The family received friends from 1 until 3 p.m., Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church.

Leon Buffington, 81, entered into rest Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at University Hospital McDuffie.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, in Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Buffington was a native of Columbia County, but he had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired businessman. He started in business as an electrician, working with Dozier Heating and Air for over 20 years.
Survivors include his sister: Mrs. Doris Ready, Grovetown; two nieces, Toni (Wayne) Watkins and Rhonda (Bill) Bachand; two nephews, Doug (Kim) Hallford and James (Linda) Buffington.
Pallbearers were Raymond Brinkley, Brad Collins, Randy Gingery, Wayne Sims and John Bailey.
Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family received friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Louis Thomas McCorkle
Louis Thomas McCorkle, 74, of 1269 Royal Street, Thomson passed on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. Family will receive friends at the residence, and visitation will be held Oct. 20 at Thomson Funeral System from noon to 8 p.m., Oct. 21 at Thomson Funeral System from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Oct. 21 at Springfield Baptist Church in Thomson from noon to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Springfield Baptist Church in Thomson at 1 p.m. with the Rev. F.D. Favors and Dr. Michael Mitchell officiating. The funeral procession will leave 1269 Royal Street at 12:30 p.m. A repast will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the J.H. West Fellowship Hall at 523 MLK Jr. Street in Thomson.
Burial will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Willie James "Jackie" Story
Willie James “Jackie” Story, 69, of Warrenton, passed on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Family received friends 354 Culpepper Street in Warrenton, and visitation was held Oct. 18 at Thomson Funeral System from noon to 8 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Funeral services were held at New Salem Baptist Church in Warrenton at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bernard Grant officiating. A repast was held following the service at 3 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church’s fellowship hall.
Burial followed at the New Salem Baptist Church cemetery.
Shirley Lorraine Green
Shirley Lorraine Green- Reese, 69, of 1042 Otis Jones Road Mesena-Warrenton, Georgia entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at the University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by a daughter, Fonta Alicia Reese-Neloms; son, Martel (Seymone) Reese; grandchildren, Sa'Miya Reese, Na'Zirah Neloms & Nolan Reese; mother, Eva Lee Green; three brothers, John Edward (Judy) Reese, Willie James (Janice) Green and Vincent (Pamela) Green and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing was held at D.T. Brown Memorial Funeral Home on Oct. 16 from noon to 7 p.m.. Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Lithonia Baptist Church in Camak and a reception followed at 1 p.m. at New Beginning Christian Faith Church in Mesena.
Internment at New Zion Hill AME Church in Thomson followed the service.
