Bulldog-Pace Academy game cancelled
By Jim Wallace

Weather concerns forced the cancellation of the Pace Academy Knight – Thomson Bulldog game Friday night at Luther Welsh Field at The Brickyard.
Thomson head coach Rob Ridings said Pace Academy in Atlanta called the school Friday morning.
“They said they were not going to allow their students athletes to be on the road because of traffic concerns due to weather,” Riding said.
“We were left holding the bucket, as we couldn’t force them to play, and we lost a home gate.”
Pace Academy, 3-A and 0-2 on the season, contacted the Georgia High School Association, which decided not to rule against the cancellation because Georgia was under a state of emergency due to concerns over Hurricane Irma.
Ridings said a reschedule of the game is not doable.
“Their open dates do not work with our open dates, and that puts us in a bind,” the coach said.
“We’ve got to try and find someone who is open on this Friday or next Friday (Sept 22) as those are our open dates.”
Ridings said some schools that had those dates open had been contacted as of Monday. He said that it was not known if things would work out because of the other schools rescheduling a game that they lost because of weather.
