Dogs face Dragons Friday – Dog Walk to welcome team
By Jim Wallace

The Bulldogs arrive for the Dog Walk last in December before the quarterfinal game against the Dragons.
The AAAA matchup with the Jefferson Dragons (2-0) should be interesting after Thomson’s two wins last year.
The Dragons are 2-0 with a 43-0 opening win against 7-A Discovery (2-10 over the last two seasons), and a 50-13 win at 5-A Riverwood. The team is ranked sixth in the Atlanta Journal Top 10, with Thomson being ranked third.
A Dog Walk will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday to cheer on the Dogs as they arrive at Luther Welsh Field at The Brickyard. The Bulldog Brigade and cheerleaders will perform as the team arrives in buses.
Thomson won the first encounter 42-20 at Jefferson. In the playoff game, the Dogs came away with a 27-6 win at The Brickyard in a matchup that sent the Dogs to the state championship game.
The playoff game was moved from Jefferson to Thomson after the Georgia High School Association ruled Jefferson did not have the required permanent seating.
“They still feel like the game should have been played in Jefferson,” said Ridings.
“They will certainly have a chip on their shoulders about us beating them twice last year, which was a hard thing to do – beat a team twice in one year.”
Ridings described the Dragons as big, strong and fast.
Tickets are on sale in the main office for Friday's night game against Jefferson. Tickets are $6 for students and $7 for adults. Advance ticket sales will end at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $7 at the gate, and all children, aged 4 and up must purchase a ticket.
