Thomson Police seeking information about Family Y car break-ins
By Caitlin Boland

Thomson Police are investigating three break ins that occurred in the Family Y parking lot on Aug. 9.
Thomson Police Lt. Don Hilson said at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 9 purses in three different vehicles were stolen. The purses were left inside the vehicles while the owners were working out at the Family Y.
"The purses were stolen when someone busted out the window and reached into the vehicles taking the purses," Hilson said.
He added that the offender is believed to have been driving or riding in a grayish four-door vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Cruz. If anyone has information pertaining to the case or may know someone who drives a similar vehicle, call the police department at 706-595-2166.
"The Police Department wishes to remind everyone not to leave valuables in your vehicles," Hilson said. "Should you have to leave something of value in a vehicle, be sure the item is not visible should someone look into the vehicle’s interior."
In a statement from the Family Y of Thomson Facebook page, the organization warned patrons to not leave valuables in vehicles.
"Due to recent criminal activity, please do not leave valuables in your vehicles," the statement said. "We do provide day use lockers for you to safely store your valuables while you're at the Family Y, but you must provide your own lock."
