The Thomson Bulldogs will travel to Grovetown Friday night for a scrimmage against the Warriors.
Thomson begins its regular season Aug. 18, at Laney, but Friday night’s game will give fans and coaches a chance to see the Dogs under game conditions.
Thomson head coach Rob Ridings said with the earliness of the season, there is not a lot available on the Class 6A Warriors.
“We’ll base what we do (based on seeing) a little bit on their spring game and a little bit on their last game that they had,” he said.
“They are big up front on defense and on offense, they’ve moved more to a spread-type offense. They’ve got good football players and it ought to be a good test for us.”
The coach said the Bulldogs are taking baby steps – especially with the offense and kicking game which is developing a little bit behind the defense.
