ACT sr. performs ‘Almost Maine,’ ACT announces auditions for ‘Cinderella’ production
By Caitlin Boland

Danny Roush and Jared Burk are shown during an ACT sr. production of “Almost Maine.”
The Area Children’s Theatre in Warrenton presented ACT sr. on July 21-23.
The production of “Almost Maine” was directed by Mycala Hilson.
"I am so honored to have been able to direct this summer’s ACT Sr. production!” Hilson said. “I have been in numerous ACT productions in the past, but eventually the distance of college pulled me away from the ACT cast.  However, I am back this summer! This is my first time working as a director, and it has been an unforgettable experience.  I have been blessed with a wonderful cast to work with, and they have worked very hard. I am so proud of them and so excited for this show. "
Cindy Rivers, manager of Hometown Warrenton, said the ACTors did fantastic job.
“The production team planned out a really wonderful play,” Rivers said.

In addition to ACT sr., ACT is gearing up for its next production “Disney’s Cinderella Kids.”
“It may say ‘Kids.’ but that doesn't mean it's not for teens,” Rivers said. “It's just a shorter, less detailed version.”
Auditions for ACT XX are open for children and youth age eight and older on Aug. 14 from 4-6 p.m. or Aug. 15 from 4-5:30 p.m. Auditions are held at the Warrenton Cultural Center, located at 226 S. Gibson Street in Warrenton.
Rivers advises that those interested in auditioning must only arrive between the scheduled times on one of the audition days. Call backs are scheduled for Aug. 17 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Rehearsals for the production will be Mondays from 4-6 p.m., and the production is scheduled from Dec. 1-3, 2017.
Rivers said for chorus and soloists auditioning for the play, a song must be prepared prior to the audition, and the auditions will require you to bring recorded accompaniment, an accompanist and keyboard or to sing acappella.
In addition to singing parts, there are also several non-singing parts and crew slots available.
“For those you do not need to prepare a song to sing, but you do need to come to the auditions to sign up and do a read-through if you'll be onstage.”
There will also be an ACT Musicals Revue at the beginning of the production, and singers will be cast for selections from “Godspell,” “Annie,” “Mulan” and “Mary Poppins.”
