Ernest Barrington Ward Jr.
Ernest Barrington Ward, Jr., 64, of Stagecoach Rd., entered into rest July 9, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Ward was born in Orangeburg, SC to the late Ernest Barrington Ward, Sr. and the late Rachel Brown Ward. He grew up in Washington Georgia and was a 1970 graduate of Washington Wilkes High School. In 1976 he graduated from the University of Georgia where he obtained a degree in zoology. He worked as an EMT with Athens General Hospital for several years and was currently employed by Thomson Plastics Inc. He attended Shiloh United Methodist Church and loved riding motorcycles.
Survivors include his daughter, Jesselyn Ward; sister, Pat Ward Niemann; grandchild, Javon Ward; nephew, Bill Niemann (Jo); nieces, Cindy Niemann Price (Joseph), and Lynn Niemann Underwood (Jay); great nephew, Levi Young; great nieces, Mandy, Melanie, Naomi, and Brooke Niemann, and Lily Young.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Shirley Suarez and Rev. Mary Edith Kirkland officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 5970 Cobbham Rd., Appling, GA 30802.

Kenneth Neff Haile
Kenneth Neff Haile, 74, entered into rest June 28, 2017.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Danny McClure officiating.
The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mary Ann Renfro
Mary Ann White Renfro, 85, of White Tiger Rd. entered into rest July 14, 2017.
Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Collins officiating. Interment followed in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tina Beckworth Weir
Tina Beckworth Weir, 51, passed away on July 17, 2017 at The Place in Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan Weir of Augusta; a son, James David Weir (Candi) of Thomson; one daughter, Debra Ann Weir of Augusta. She leaves 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren along with her family, David and Betsy Weir. A native of Augusta, she was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and George Beckworth; one brother, Johnny Beckworth of Thomson; and two sisters, Patricia Beckworth of Hephzibah and Janice Noggle of Thomson.
Tina was a native of Augusta, but lived in Thomson for years where she attended Thomson High School. Tina was a loving, caring mother and generous family member. She responded to many in need with what she could do to help and bolster their spirits. Tina loved playing softball and skating at the roller rink in her teens when she was still able to be active. Her family will miss her lively spirit and presence in their lives.
The family wants to recognize the nurses and their assistants for the loving care at The Place in Martinez.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
If desired, donations may be made to the Huntington Foundation.

Rachel Powell Evans
Rachel Powell Evans, 72, widow of Mr. Gaither Evans, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Augusta University Medical Center
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.
Mrs. Evans was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Harlem for many years. She was a retired seamstress.
Survivors include her two daughters, Tammye Pope and Amanda Story, both of Augusta; her son, Mark Murphy, Harlem; two brothers, Walter Powell Jr., Harlem and Wayne Powell, Tenn.; three sisters, Sandra Jones, Linda Blackwelder, and Lucille Hammond; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Gilbert Engel
Gilbert Engel, 84, beloved husband of Mrs. Sara W. Engel, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
Mr. Engel was a native of Williamsport Pa., but had lived in Thomson for several years. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon. He was an Army Veteran. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Outreach Class.
A Memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Friday July 28, 2017 in Thomson First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lambert and Rev. Lee Almy officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sara W. Engel, his two daughters, Renee (Lee) Almy, Cumming and Shelley (John) Colberg, Buford; his son, Kamm A. (Caroline) Engel, Pipersville, Pa.; his brother, LeRoy (Mary) Engel, Sherwood, Ark.; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: several nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Outreach Class at Thomson First Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home.

Calmelia Thompkins
On July 12, 2017 Calmelia Thompkins was called home to be with the Lord.
Calmelia Thompkins was born on September 29, 1947 to Columbus “Buddy” Johnson, Sr. and Armelia Jackson in McDuffie County, GA. Calmelia attended McDuffie County schools. On September 11, 1975 she married Carlton Thompkins.
Calmelia Thompkins leaves to cherish her loving memories: a loving husband, Carlton Thompkins of Harlem, GA; two daughters, Christy (Ja’Orcie) Ransom of Atlanta, GA and Carlean Monique Thompkins of Augusta, GA; two sons, Travis (Marie) Johnson of Mobile, AL and Anthony (Wendy) Johnson of Thomson, GA; a step-son, Alfonza (Latangie) Hill of Thomson, GA; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine (Walter) Emory of Harlem, GA and Rozell Spillman of Bushnell, FL; one brother, Donnell Johnson of Dearing, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held July 15 at Liberty Temple Ministries in Dearing. A repast was held after the service.
