It was a time to celebrate, remember and play softball Friday night at Sweetwater Park.
Hundreds attended the 2017 Drake Widener Scholarship Fund Softball Tournament. Widener, 19, a past member of the Thomson Bulldog Diamond Dogs and a welder lost his life in a car accident in May of 2016.
Widener wore No.5 for the Bulldogs and played pitcher and outfielder.
Bonnie Widener, his mother, said that the tournament was a huge success and netted close to $7,000 for the scholarship fund.
