McDuffie County teachers Amy Brown, Khrista Henry, Jay James, and Kaitlin Ledger attended the Georgia Department of Education's Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)/STEM Teacher Academy.
McDuffie County teachers Amy Brown, Khrista Henry, Jay James, and Kaitlin Ledger attended the Georgia Department of Education's Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)/STEM Teacher Academy, sponsored by the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Resource Network and Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville in late June. The training sessions focused on inquiry-based, hands-on activities and incorporating coding and virtual reality in lessons. Topics included Exploring Coding with Hummingbirds, Hatponics: Sustainable Agriculture, The Authentic Science Experience in the STEAM/STEM Classroom, Applying Rigor in the STEAM/STEM Classroom, Solar Energy in Season: Designing a Solar Farm to Maximize Power in All Seasons, Virtual Reality in the STEAM/STEM Classroom, Seed Keeping in the Classroom: How to Incorporate Science, Art, and Culture into your Curriculum, Boxlight - Exploring Investigative Research with Lab Disc, and The STEAM/STEM Flipped Classroom.
