Trojans shut out Dogs 23-0 in spring scrimmage
By Jim Wallace

There was a lot of learning that went on in Saturday night’s loss to Peach County in the spring scrimmage.
The Dogs fell 23-0 in the game played at Trojan Stadium in Ft. Valley.
Rob Ridings, Thomson head coach, returned to coach the team on Friday, after being suspended with pay on April 25, after a confrontational situation between Ridings and a student at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School
The McDuffie County Board of Education ruled Thursday night that Ridings would be suspended without pay for 10 days. Since he had been out of the classroom for 12 days, he was allowed back at the school on Friday.
A number of players did not practice Friday night in response to the situation. However, Ridings said there was some confusion and coaches talked to players and the entire team was present for the game against Peach County.
Peach County scored in the first quarter on two field goals – one of 20 yards and another of 49 yards. After the first, Thomson fumbled away the ball.
