Burley receives love during appreciation celebration
By Linda Green

Valerie Burley is shown at the head table with her daughter Tiffany waiting to be escorted onto the stage to be presented to the citizens attending a banquet in her honor.
A woman who has spent the last 28 years caring for people in handling wills, estates, conserverships, guardianships and as well as marrying others was treated to a love fest May 6.
Valerie Burley, probate judge of McDuffie County since 2007 and staff member in the probate office since 1989, was shown how much the community appreciates her during an appreciation banquet and celebration at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School.
More than 200 people witnessed Burley receive love, encouragement and support through song, tribute, words of appreciation and thanks, proclamation and presentation.
Daisy Hobbs, her mother, and Burley’s two brothers and her sister organized the event.
“All four of my children are special, but I wanted to honor Valerie because she holds a special position in the McDuffie community and I am so proud of her,” Hobbs said. “Because of the comments I receive from citizens of McDuffie County, I felt that as a mother, I should acknowledge her contributions to all aspects of the community.”
