Reese named Administrative Professional of the Year

Anita Reese, the 2017 Administrative Professional of the Year for Thomson-McDuffie County, poses with her Georgia Pacific colleagues. Pictured are Allison Ford, Reese, Andy Knox Jr., chairman of the Board of Directors for the thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce, Larry Thompson, former Georgia Pacific plant manager, and Steve Dwyer, current plant manager.
For 40 years, Anita Reese has served as the administrative assistant to Georgia-Pacific, formerly Temple-Inland.
Described as the cornerstone in the company’s foundation, Reese was named the 2017 Administrative Professional of the Year during the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce’s 29th annual Administrative Professional Luncheon April 26.
“I am shocked. I had no idea but this means the world to me,” Reese said. “I thank everyone.”
She said she had an inkling that her name was about to be called by Andy Knox Jr. when he talked about the nominee going home for lunch to make sure that her elderly mother-in-law has food prepared. “I realized it then,” she said.
For 29 years, the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce has honored someone from local businesses, city and county government offices or industry with the Administrative Professional of the Year Award. Those individuals were also recognized during the April 26 luncheon.
Reese has learned a lot from the time she started in 1977 as the facility receptionist and then as the company’s administrative assistant. “The advice that I would give to others is to always be considerate of others and treat others as you would like them to treat you.”
