THS football student-athletes honored

Several Thomson High School football players were recently honored by being named to state and region lists.
On Jan. 31, four THS student-athletes received awards at the Third Annual WJBF Football Friday Night/Carolina Panthers All-CSRA Football Awards Show & Banquet at the Augusta Marriot.
Running back Mike Thomas was named CSRA/Carolina Panthers Player of the Year.
Safety Christian Tutt received the Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Big Play Award for his punt return against Burke County that helped the Bulldogs capture the Region 3-AAAA championship.
Kicker Dakota Gergen received CSRA/Carolina Panthers First Team honors.
Offensive lineman Tavarius Jones received All CSRA/Carolina Panthers First Team honors.
Four players were selected to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association South AAAA All-State Team on Jan. 31.
Zack Johnson, Tavarius Jones, Will Roberts, and Mike Thomas were chosen for the team during a meeting in Macon.
Running back Thomas was chosen as Player of the Year, Jones was named to an Offensive Lineman of the Year, Roberts was named Receiver of the Year, and Johnson was chosen a Defensive Back Player of the Year.
