The Region 3-AAAA race is in hot contention, and the Thomson Bulldogs are in it thick.
The Bulldogs are 9-8, and 3-2 in region play, which finds them in third place behind Baldwin, 5-1, and Richmond Academy, 5-1. The Dogs are ahead of Burke County, who is at 3-3, Cross Creek who is at 1-5, and Hephzibah who is winless in five games.
“We are right in the thick of things and in a position to move up,” said THS head coach Michael Thomas.
On January 17, Thomson dropped a 79-53 loss to region opponent Richmond Academy in Augusta.
Thomson had power problems in the first and third periods. Thomson found itself with only 9 points compared to ARC’s 19 in the first. In the third, Thomson only hit 4 points, while ARC piled up 21.
“In the first period, I think it may have been because we didn’t warm up properly, or if we were just missing shots,” said Thomas.
