• Dogs win scrimmage 14-6
By Jim Wallace

The Class AAAA Thomson Bulldogs defeated the Evans Knights 14-6 Friday night in Evans in a scrimmage game that gave a peak at what the Bulldogs look like this year.
In the first half, the two teams played their varsity offenses and defenses. The second half saw both teams alternate possessions with each team having possession for six minutes which gave both teams a chance to play a lot of younger players.
To begin the game, Class AAAAA Evans drove to the Thomson 6 and wound up having to settle for a 25-yard field goal.
The Bulldogs answered on their first drive with a 22-yard scoring run by junior running back Billy Mance.
Thomson sealed the victory with a fumble recovery near the Evans 35 by sophomore Bruce Quarles, who ran it in for the touchdown with 2:55 remaining in the third quarter.
Rob Ridings, THS head coach, said after the game that he saw good things and things the Dogs needed to work on.
“We will need to get busy to correct the mistakes, but I thought our effort was good and the kids were excited about playing,” said Ridings. “We have to come back and work a little harder.”
