• Man drives truck up pole while fleeing police
By Linda Green

A short police chase of a man fleeing the drive-thru of local pharmacy resulted in an accident with the man’s vehicle suspended in the air by wires from a power pole.
The Thomson Police Department was called to the CVS Pharmacy on Sunday, Aug. 3 for a man attempting to obtain a fraudulent prescription.
The 2:09 p.m. call sent Officer Brian Addenbrook to the store’s drive-thru to confront the man later identified as Devon Lawrence Payton, 22, of Greenwood, S.C.
According to Police Investigator Jamie Bridges, someone called the pharmacy using a local doctor’s name to make a prescription and the pharmacy verified that the prescription was not legitimate and called the police.
