• Woman escapes serious injury in crash
By Linda Green

A Thomson woman escaped injury after a collision with a parked truck and large construction backhoe on July 31.
Kendra S. Dunbar, 25, of Thomson, was driving her 1998 Ford Explorer south on Cobbham Road when she drove off the highway, overcorrected and came back and hit two construction vehicles.
According to GSP Trooper Steve Shelton, “Dunbar was rounding a curve and left the road, overcorrected and lost control. She sideswiped a Ford-350 construction truck that was on the shoulder, kept going and struck a 2004 John Deere backhoe head on that was being operated in the ditch.”
Workers with Utilipath, a Mooresville, N.C.-based company that designs and builds telecommunications networks, were working along the 1710 block of Cobbham Road when the accident occurred.
