• Bulldogs preparing for upcoming season
By Jim Wallace

Thomson Bulldog football players and coaches were busy Saturday at the Sears Cruise-In that benefitted athletics at the high school.
Head coach Rob Ridings said players and coaches are also busy preparing for the 2014 football season, which begins Friday, August 15, with a scrimmage at Evans at 7:30 p.m.
Currently, the team is practicing in helmets and shorts, with the first day of full pads coming Friday, Aug. 1.
Ridings, in his first year as THS head coach, said he enjoyed a recent event at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center that focused on CSRA high school football teams.
“It was the WJBF Channel 6/ The Augusta Chronicle Coaches and Captains Dinner and featured 270 players and coaches from the area,” said Ridings. “It was great to touch base with a lot of coaches I knew from 10 years ago. Some of them have moved around a bit, but it was great reconnecting with them.”
Ridings and defensive coordinator Lee Hutto attended the event with juniors Nick Moss and Jaquez Hart.
