Raysville reopens
By Linda Green

A new store at Raysville Marina has risen from the ashes of the one that burned in July 2013.
Bruce and Gloria Thompson opened the new store/tackle shop on July 1 to coincide with the Fourth of July festivities and to serve the multitude of people visiting Thurmond Lake’s Little River in McDuffie County over the summer and throughout the year to camp, boat and have fun.
The Thompsons purchased the marina from Leon Buffington and the late Douglas Pentecost.
“We did not want to change anything,” Gloria Thompson said. “Our goal was to rebuild the store and have it ready for July 4 and we met it and we were open.”
Thompson said multitudes of people were at the Marina when the shop opened. “We were ecstatic about the crowds and we have been overwhelmed by how many people love that place and wanted it to be a good place again,” she said.
